Jeffrey Perry began his career by selling furniture out of his parent's garage. His keen eye for vintage finds proved profitable, inspiring him to open Los Angeles' first mid-century modern store on Hollywood Boulevard & Vine Street in 1986. Perry soon began reproducing classic vintage finds. Specializing in quality built, value-priced, locally made mid-century classics that customers could customize by choosing fabrics and wood finishes proved a popular formula.
Futurama relocated three times, remaining at its La Brea Avenue location for ten years. Jeffrey was forced to leave La Brea when the building was sold. Around the same time, the financial crisis of 2008 killed furniture sales for an extended period. Jeffrey had tired of the retail shop grind by then, so he closed the shop, evolving Futurama to an online store that still sells the same locally made, top quality pieces as always.
